EVENING TOURS ON LOCAL WATERWAYS 2008
$25 pp - ($5 off coupon in store). Most Canoes or Kayaks - your choice. There will be a slow group & a moderately paced group. All gear & boat transport provided. Great way of trying out a canoe or kayak you are thinking of buying.
Most Tues (some Wed) in May thru September (most last ~2hrs.) Trips led by members of Adirondack Mountain Club - Albany Chapter - if you already own a canoe or kayak & would like to participate in these & other trips then join the club www.adk.org 1-800-395-8080.

LESSONS 2009
Paddling is 30%-40% the boat & 60%-70% paddler skill - A good paddler in a bad boat is better off than a poor paddler in a good boat. A good paddler can make any kayak/canoe go in a straight line.

INTRO TO KAYAKING -
A one evening class. The basics for the recreational kayaker - getting in & out gracefully, holding the paddle, efficient forward stroke, torso rotation, maneuvering strokes, feathered/unfeathered paddles. $45 includes kayak, $35 bring your own kayak.
FUNDAMENTALS OF KAYAKING -
2 evenings/mornings. A more comprehensive class for the kayak tourer. You will learn the secrets of paddling efficiently - forward, backward, maneuvering, sideways, etc. Includes everything in Intro plus edging, bracing, more. $89 includes kayak, $69 bring your own kayak.
KAYAK RESCUE & RECOVERY -
Do you know how to get back in your kayak after a capsize? Do you know how to assist another kayaker who has capsized? Learn the paddle float self-rescue & the assisted T rescue. $45 includes kayak, $35 bring your own kayak.
KAYAK FUNDAMENTALS REFRESHER -
Fine-tune forward, turning, maneuvering strokes; sweeps, draws, braces, edging, etc. in one session. Make your strokes more efficient. For those with some experience. Follow this class up with the Intermediate Kayaking Class. $45 includes kayak, $35 bring your own kayak.
INTERMEDIATE KAYAKING -
More on edging, braces, sculling draw, sculling for support, brace turns, bow rudder, stern rudder & their uses. $45 includes kayak, $35 bring your own kayak.
CANOEING -
Novice thru intermediate, solo or tandem, j-stroke & maneuvering. $45 includes canoe, $35 bring your own canoe.
Canoe & kayak classes can be set up for groups of 4-8 & tailored to meet your needs - call 346-3180. Our instructor, Rich Macha, has been teaching kayaking & canoeing for 10 years.
2009 WINTER/SPRING POOL SESSIONS - KAYAK RESCUES & ROLLING - March 4, 11, 18, 25; April 15, 22, 29; May 6, 13.
