Dear Linda

Linda at Play

Eyes of blue, a dainty frame,
Linda was your name.
A little girl with golden curls,
I remember well the day you came.
A very special babe to me,
You introduced me to a brand new joy.

You sucked your fingers when you went to sleep,
On winter mornings you sat by the heat.
When you were sick or in distress
Your teddy bear was your special friend.
I can see you now among your toys
Playing house with Kim and Little Hostess Buffet.

You went outside and played.
On sunny days you rode your tryke.
Most of all you loved to swing.
When you were five your learned to swim.

You begged to keep a stray yellow cat
That wandered to our house one day.
Josephine became her name.
She stayed for a while, then moved away.

We got a white kitten. You named him Prince.
You always wanted him by your side.
Whenever anyone came to the door
You showed him off with pride.

Many years have flown since you left us.
Sometimes I wonder how you'd have grown,
How you would fit into our home.
I know you'd be lovely and graceful.
I think you'd be quite smart.
I can only wonder in my heart.
