Misspelled Signs - Page 4

G.P. Fruit & Vegetables, 704 Manhattan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

It's a bit blurry, I admit, but trust me that the little sign reads "CRAMBERRIES 2.29¢ EA." Here's a neat stunt for some college fraternity: How many cramberries can a pledge cram into his mouth? Plus, they're not $2.29 for a pound or a bag, but 2.29¢ each. Is that a good price? ("Heah's twee cents, Mistuh. I'd wike one cwambewwy an' .71 cents change, pwease.")

Eva's Beauty Salon, 126 Nassau Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

This one doesn't really contain a spelling error, per se, but we at PizzaBagel's Misspelled Signs aim to educate and entertain - with the emphasis on the latter. This clapboard sign with a ghastly graphic touts its services for "men-women." Are those like "he-shes" - that is, individuals of indeterminate gender?

Chinese Antiques & Specialties Holding, Inc., 1099 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Here are two signs for the same establishment with two different spellings of "specialties." On the Flushing Avenue side of the building, it's "specailties" - the adjacent i and a are exchanged for each other; around the corner on the Porter Avenue side, it's "specialies" - the t is dropped. And on the first sign "furniture" is spelled "furnture." A three-bagger!

Family Thrift Shop, 1081 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

This sign has several spelling errors - and a few grammar errors for good measure. Here we go. 1: The second c in "ELECTRONICS" is dropped. 2: "HOUSEWARES" is butchered into "HOUSEWEARES." 3: In this context, "MENS," "WOMENS," and "CHILDRENS" aren't possessives - and if they were, they each lack an apostrophe. I assume that the sign should read "CLOTHING FOR / MEN / WOMEN / CHILDREN." 4: "SHOES / TOYS / ELECTRONIS / HOUSEWEARES" should be separated from "MENS / WOMENS / CHILDRENS / MILITARY / WORK." I don't think they sell clothing for electronics. ("I'm looking for a nice chapeau for my DVD player.")

T & J Tire Shop, 379A Bushwick Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Here's another sign with multiple spelling errors. 1: "SIDINGS" has become "SIDEINGS." 2: It should be "TRIMMINGS," not "TRIMINGS."

Flushing Transmission World, 184 Noll Street, Brooklyn, NY

The next time my car needs a tun-up, I'm definitely coming to this place.

G & A USA Group Inc., 370-380 Jefferson Street, Brooklyn, NY

Don't get lost, folks. Despite what the sign says, this place is on Jefferson Street, not Jeferson Street.

Forest Garden, 62-42 Forest Avenue, Ridgewood, NY

Just a guess: Somebody was chattering when the sign guy tried to spell "catering" on this awning.

New Life Cleaners, 43-16 43rd Avenue, Sunnyside, NY

I kid you not: I'm almost certain that this business is owned by Oriental-Americans.

Lentini Pizza, 43-22 43rd Avenue, Sunnyside, NY

Sign #1: "PERMIGIAN" instead of "PARMIGIANA" Sign #4: "PEPPARONI" instead of "PEPPERONI"
