I have found that, for the most part, teardroppers seem to enjoy things that are not quite in the mainstream. If it is just a little bit unusual or unique, so much the better.

Now for myself, I am stuck in the somewhere in the 40's or 50's. Things were so much simplier then. The average Joe was not afraid to make something if he could not find it. The home workshop was a source of pride and people took pride in the items that they built. To get an idea how "mainstream" this was, just pick up any of the magazines of that time period. Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Popular Homecraft, Science and Mechanics. Within the pages of any of these magazines, you could find plans/ideas for making just about ANYTHING.

My family has learned that when I express a liking for something that is older, that is is probably ugly. Hey, I like the looks of a Kaiser/Nash station wagon! I think that COE trucks are cool! My wife and I went to the steel yard the other day to pick up steel for my teardrop frame. After we had the steel purchased and loaded in the truck, we took a walk through the salvage area to see what "treasures" we could come up with. Everything that I saw had an alternate use in my mind's eye. After about 45 minutes, I took my "finds" to the yard owner. I offered him a buck for what I had found, he looked at what I had in my hands, looked at me for a long moment, and said OK. You will have to ask me in person what it was that I found...

On that note, welcome to the links that I like. A little off beat, sometimes strange...

Enjoy!

George
